About Me as a ProfessionalI am a seasoned international development professional with extensive experience in program design, development, management and evaluation. With more than 30 years of experience, I started at the grass roots level and progressed up to senior management positions on four different continents. My responsibilities involved close coordination with governmental, non-governmental, bilateral and multilateral donors, as well as research institutions and private sector corporations. While my early academic training focused on science and sustainable development, I also gained practical experience in a broad array of programming sectors including management, early stimulation, primary education, health and nutrition, large scale emergency operations and food assisted programming for maternal child health and nutrition.
I am results oriented, open to innovation and learning through operations research and committed to building staff capacity while ensuring excellence. I am currently concluding graduate studies in Educational Technology and Leadership at The George Washington University. The time I have taken to "step back" from work was driven by my passion for and belief in the importance and potential I perceive for Information and Communication Technology (ICT) to enhance primary education in underdeveloped countries. My teaching experience in Annandale, Virginia and Nicaragua as well as oversight of education programs with Save the Children in Bangladesh have served me well for these studies. After many years of focusing on keeping mothers and children alive, I now want to focus on quality education. Otherwise, these groups may survive, but they will live marginalized lives and continue to be denied many of their basic rights. I believe my graduate studies, coupled with my wealth of professional experience, afford me a strong foundation to evoke even more positive change for children and disadvantaged groups. This is what I seek. |
