Some Interesting LinksABC Good Morning America
While in Bangladesh ABC News did an expose on the importance of water and sanitation for health. As part of our School Health and Nutrition program Save the Children had partnered with and organization known as Water for Life to construct latrines in selected government primary schools. ABC News offered to tape a Skype call between one of our beneficiary schools and the school children in Virginia who had raised the funds for the project. They needed the arrangements and set up to be done in a record 48 hours. I persuaded my reluctant team to guarantee the necessary arrangements. Mind you that the filming would be done after dark and the school did not have electricity or computer access. The following video aired on ABC Good Morning America was the result of what I feel was a well worthwhile effort. My team loved it and the students love it! I would like to establish permanent links like these between schools teachers and students. ABC Good Morning America ISTE This is a site I use to formulate new ideas, stay up with best practices, and see what is coming next in educational technology. Be sure and check out ISTE Nets Tab as this lists the acknowledged standards worldwide for ICT programs. International Society for Technology in Education UNESCO Bangkok ICT in Education UNESCO Bangkok's ICT in Education link was by far the best resources I found for exploring ICT applications in Southern Asia. There is wealth of information and free links to prescreened software downloads. Check out the ICT in Education Toolkit (under Highlights). I made it mandatory that my team fulfill this module.
